Government Physiotherapy College, Raipur is currently the only Government institution in state of Chhattisgarh offering 4 ½ years of Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.) course affiliated to Pt. D.D.U.M.H.S & Ayush University, Naya Raipur (CG).

The journey of this institution started in the year 2002 in form of Physiotherapy course by the Autonomous Society of Pt. J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur under the Department of Orthopaedics with a total annual intake capacity of 50 students per year.

In the year 2008, after being recognized by State Government of Chhattisgarh under Director Medical Education, Government Physiotherapy College, Raipur came into existence. Our exclusive college building has a large campus in the heart of Raipur city, in close proximity with the state’s oldest Pt. J.N.M. Medical College and associated Dr. B.R.A.M. Hospital, also the state’s largest hospital. Government Physiotherapy College is one of the pioneer Physiotherapy institutes in central India, dedicated for physiotherapy education and patient care. Our unique blend of planned infra structure, dedicated faculty, and support of Medical college and Hospital are the key resources for quality education and training of students pursuing Physiotherapy education from our college.

Apart from being a pioneer teaching institution, the college also successfully executes its responsibility of running a well equipped, full fledged Physiotherapy OPD in Orthopaedic department of Dr. B.R.A.M. Hospital Raipur. More than 15,000 patients are benefited with our physiotherapy services every year. Besides, Government Physiotherapy College also provides inpatient physiotherapy services (IPD) in various departments of Dr. B.R.A.M. hospital like Medicine, Surgery, Cancer, Anaesthesia, CTVS, Obs-Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Burn and Plastic surgery. This responsibility moulds into an excellent opportunity for our students in learning, gaining and updating clinical skills related to physiotherapy profession amongst a large variety of patient population.

Students pursuing BPT course from our college are fortunate to get educated and trained by faculty of Pt. J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur and Dr. B.R.A.M. Hospital for medical subjects related to Physiotherapy education. Variety as well as large number of patients seen during the period of learning makes them confident enough to serve the community.

About PhysioTherapy

Physiotherapy Professional is a person who practices physiotherapy by undertaking comprehensive examination and appropriate investigation, provides treatment and advice to any person preparatory to or for the purpose of or in connection with movement or functional dysfunction, malfunction, disorder, disability, healing and pain from trauma and disease, using physical modalities including exercise, mobilization, manipulations, electrical and thermal agents and other electro therapeutics for prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, health promotion and fitness.

A physiotherapist can practice independently or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and has a minimum qualification of a baccalaureate degree. Physiotherapists are health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and diseases. They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability
